Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC), the leading national provider of rehabilitation services for individuals who are blind or have significant vision loss, engaged us to design their new downtown office. Our design prioritized accessibility, comfort, and brand incorporating specific considerations for those with vision loss. We implemented thoughtful color contrasts in various areas, such as the main wall in relation to the wall base colour, the white kitchen and black contrasting pulls, and black cover plates, all to aid navigation. A distinctive braille wall covering was installed in the main circulation area, reflecting the core values of respect, independence, kindness, trust, compassion, integrity, virtue, friendship, and generosity. Additionally, the Client carefully curated artwork for its contrast, ensuring that visually impaired clients can fully appreciate the artistic elements of the space.
